Retirement is Freedom and the Time to Enjoy it.

Now you have "sacked" the boss, look around, consider all the activities which you haven't previously been able to enjoy. Did you ever sit down at work and think, "Gee, when I retire I would love to have a go at that" ?

OK, you may not be physically able to do some things but there are so many other ways to live life to the full.

Go to the buttons and let us look at HEALTH - keeping yourself as fit as possible. In my opinion, the number one requirement for a happy retirement. If you can manage to stay healthy for as long as possible you will be able to enjoy more activities which,in turn, will keep you fit. You will have heard the phrase 'use it or lose it' - how very true this is. I am 77 and this last year I have really proved it for myself. I am fitter and healthier than I was twelve months ago and I put it down entirely to being active. Click the button in the left hand margin.

Click the button for FINANCIAL PLANNING - don't just sit back and settle for whatever pension is being offered. Consider all the options. You have time now to look at budgetting, doing monthly expenditure analyses. Check all your outgoings, now you are retired do you need all the things you are spending money on ? If your retirement fund is not providing the income your budgetting suggests you require there are various ways in which you can increase your income. Take action now and click the button.

Allied to finances is the section YOUR HOME. Click the button and read the sub-sections on downsizing (Empty Nest), Moving Abroad, Reverse Mortgages and Home. You will find a lot of useful information and advice and I guarantee it will get your thought processes going !

Keep your MENTAL health A1. Now that you are not using your brainpower for "the job" keep it in tip top condition. It must not fall into disuse. There are easy ways to keep your brain active and enjoy yourself at the same time. You may think it incredible but the experts suggest that an active mind is a very important aid to staying physically healthy.

HAPPINESS - this is what you are aiming for. Alright let's face it we all have our ups and downs but always look at the broad picture. Consider the four aspects above and how they can increase your enjoyment in retirement.

Let me introduce myself. I am David Gibson, a retired Engineering Design Consultant. 77 years of age - HEY after 12 years I should be an expert ! I have a beautiful wife called Maureen and she really should be writing this because she has a "PhD" in the "University of Life". We share ten grandchildren and live in Cheshire UK.

I believe that what I have written into this website provides sound common sense advice to give you the happiest years of your life.

Stay as active as possible both physically and mentally.

Don't become a couch potato, socialise and ENJOY YOURSELF.

STAY HAPPY AND STAY WITH ME. KEEP READING AND KEEP SMILING
